Perennial. Half hardy. Height approximately 24″. Non invasive.
Bright green heart shaped leaves with yellow flowers.
Produces tubers which are predominantly rose or red skinned with a cream or pale orange flesh.
Have a slightly tangy lemon taste. Can be eaten raw in salads. Alternatively can be cooked in same ways as potatoes (do not need peeling first). Just wash and cook. Becomes a more nutty flavour on cooking. Try them also in stir fries.
If left in the sun the tubers tend to sweeten.
